Waste to Wealth | Waste to Art

As part of Swachhata Hi Seva 2026, the Consulate General of India, Birmingham invites students, young people, artists, schools, families and community organisations to reimagine discarded materials and share ideas on how waste can be given a new purpose.

You do not need to have a finished product to participate. An idea is enough. Share your concept through a sketch, drawing, photograph, short video or concept note.

The initiative is aligned with the “Swachhata Se Samriddhi” focus of Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 and promotes the principles of the 3Rs — Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, recognising waste not simply as something to be discarded, but as a resource that can be reimagined.

Transform waste into art, décor, craft, a mural, sculpture or creative installation.

The 3Rs

How to Participate

Share your idea in whichever format works for you:

• Concept Note: Write down your idea or submit a short description.
• Short Video: Explain what you would create and how.
• Sketch or Drawing: Show us what you have imagined.
• Photograph: Share a photograph of your creation or prototype.

Your idea can be simple or ambitious — from giving a household object a completely new use to creating an artwork from discarded materials. Every idea counts.

Tell us:

• What waste material will you use?
• What will you make or create?
• How will it be useful, creative or meaningful?
