For updation of personal particulars such as change in name, nationality, change in gender etc or for rectification of any incorrect details filled in previous applications, apply under --> OCI Miscellaneous Services ‘Updation of personal particulars’ (chargeable) option on OCI website.
- Present valid Passport (with minimum 6 months validity)
- Old Foreign passport
- OCI card
- Employment proof / Student Id card/ letter on the company letterhead if owning business. (mandatory for adult applicants)
- Address proof (Copy of the electricity/telephone/Council tax bill/ lease agreement in own/parents/spouse name)
- Registered Marriage certificate and spouse passport copy, if applicable
- Any other document as applicable such as naturalisation/ registration certificate in case of change of nationality, change of appearance affidavit etc.
- Enrolled deed poll in case of any name change or Notary Public Affidavit for name discrepancies in different documents, if applicable (This is not applicable in case of surname change due to marriage. However, if there is change in name other than surname, enrolled deed poll/ Notary Public Affidavit will be required).
- Naturalization/Registration certificate of the current nationality, if there is change in nationality.
- Parents’ consent letter if applicant is a minor,
- xii. In the case of those who have been issued OCI card under ‘foreign spouse’ category, may also be called for a joint interview alongwith their spouse.
After launch of e-OCI card, the mandatory requirement of re-issuance of the OCI card on attaining the age of 20 years has been dispensed with. However, such OCI cardholders are required to update their passport details under OCI Miscellaneous services option on the OCI website and also give their biometric information to the nearest VFS centre after submitting the application for updation of passport details, or at the Immigration Post at the time of first entry or departure, as the case maybe.
4.2 Online update of New Passport details:-
- An OCI cardholder has to update the passport details each time a new passport is issued irrespective of age. This is a gratis service if done within three months (90 days) of issuance of the new passport. However, if the application for update of passport details is submitted after three months (90 days) of issue of the new passport, the application will be processed by charging a fee of GBP 23/- (excluding VFS charges).
- An OCI Cardholder may upload a copy of the new passport containing the photo of the passport holder and also a latest photo & signature under OCI Miscellaneous Services ‘Passport updation’ option on the Oci website, each time a new passport is issued.
- The normal processing time for update of passport details is approx. 35-40 days after acknowledgement of the application and the updated details will be reflected in the e-OCI card once the application is processed.
- As per the OCI guidelines, there will be no restriction on the OCI Cardholder to travel to/ from India during the period from the date of issue of new passport till the date of final acknowledgement of his/ her documents in the online system. However, it advised to carry your old passport (which is linked to the OCI card) alongwith the OCI card and new passport to avoid any hassle during the journey.
- Also, as per the guidelines, in cases where an OCI cardholder travels without updating their valid passport details, immigration authorities may issue an oral warning and affix a stamp in the OCI card requiring compliance within one month or before departure from India whichever is earlier.
- In the case of those who have been registered as OCI Cardholder under ‘foreign spouse’ category, the OCI Cardholder shall upload a copy of the new passport containing the photo of the passport holder and also a latest photo on the online system under OCI Miscellaneous Services each time a new passport is issued. In such cases, the OCI Cardholder and his/ her Indian spouse or OCI Cardholder spouse will have to give a declaration that their marriage is still subsisting. Copy of the Indian passport of the Indian spouse/ passport and OCI Card of the OCI Cardholder spouse shall also be uploaded in such cases. These documents may be uploaded by the OCI Cardholder foreigner spouse and application should be submitted within three months (90 days) of receipt of his/ her new passport.
