High Commissioner of India to the UK Visits the University of Warwick - 7th October, 2026

H.E. Shri Kumaran Periasamy, High Commissioner of India to the United Kingdom, visited the University of Warwick on 7 October 2026 as part of his visit to the Midlands.

During the visit, the High Commissioner met with the University’s senior leadership, including Professor Stuart Croft, Vice-Chancellor and President; Professor Michael Scott, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International); and Professor Kerry Kirwan, Dean, Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG).

The High Commissioner also toured the National Automotive Innovation Centre (NAIC), where he was briefed on the University’s advanced capabilities in automotive innovation, advanced manufacturing, engineering, research and industry collaboration.

The visit provided an opportunity to review the long-standing and wide-ranging India–Warwick relationship, which has developed over several decades through research collaboration, educational partnerships and engagement with industry. The relationship is further strengthened by the University’s vibrant community of Indian students and alumni.

Discussions covered India’s rapidly evolving higher education, research and innovation landscape, as well as opportunities for mutual growth and collaboration across academia, research and industry. The discussions highlighted significant potential for deeper, equitable and future-focused partnerships in areas of shared interest.

India remains a strategic priority within the University of Warwick’s international engagement agenda, with opportunities for further collaboration in education, research, innovation, advanced manufacturing and industry engagement.

The visit reaffirmed the shared commitment of India and the University of Warwick to developing partnerships based on mutual benefit, equality and a deeper understanding of each other’s priorities, further strengthening the enduring India–UK partnership in education, research and innovation.
